Fees
Private referrals for assessment and treatment of mental health problems
My standard fees are £260 for an initial appointment, and £180 for follow-up appointments. These fees apply for both face-to-face and video consultations. Follow-up telephone consultations are offered when appropriate and are charged at £75.
If you are paying personally, then an invoice will be sent to you within 14 days following the appointment. Full instructions on how to make the payment are included on the invoice.
If you have health insurance, then you should contact them prior to your appointment to ensure that you are covered for mental health problems and to clarify with them the level of your cover, the amount of your excess etc. In addition some insurers insist that you only see a doctor who is on their approved list, and you should confirm that they are happy for me to see you. I am approved by the majority of Health Insurers. There are many different ways you may be invoiced, depending on which Health Insurer you are with. I can explain the process for your particular Health Insurer at the appointment. Your Health Insurer may also only cover you for part of the fees. Please note that you are liable for all fees not covered by your Insurer.
If you are unable to attend your appointment for any reason, or wish to reschedule, then please contact me on 01789 532111. I would be grateful if you could give as much notice as possible so that other patients can be booked into the cancelled appointment time. Late cancellations do not allow for this, and therefore unfortunately late cancellation fees may apply (depending on circumstances):
Non-attendance / Cancellation within 24 hours of appointment 100% of fee
Cancellation within 48 hours of appointment 50% of fee
Health Insurers will not pay towards non-attendance fees, and therefore you would be solely responsible for these.
Assessments of Capacity
Capacity assessments are charged by the hour. My rate is £150 per hour, charged at 15 minute intervals. It is difficult to predict the exact time taken for capacity assessments as each is individual. However as a guide Power of Attorney and Court of Protection assessments take approximately 1.5 hours and testamentary capacity assessments take approximately 2 hours. If requested by an individual or family member, then that person will be invoiced directly, with the same terms and conditions as for self-funding patients above. If requested by a solicitor then the solicitor is invoiced directly by me.
